Colorectal screenings

Colorectal screenings are aimed at the prevention of cancers of the terminal part of the intestine and target the entire population, both women and men, aged between 50 and 69 years. One of the most common signs of a possible anomaly in this part of the intestine is the presence of occult blood in the stool. Occult blood means that its presence is not visible to the naked eye, and therefore a laboratory test is needed to detect it. Colorectal screening is offered every two years to all residents of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. It is a very simple test that can be done at home in just a few moments.
